Seek To Know Your Father
by: Mr. Andy McCall (Dream Team: Prayer & Photography)
My favorite part of my grandson’s visits is when he first comes in the house. He runs right past his Maw Maw while yelling “Paw, Paw, Paw”. He goes past his toy box without a glance, up the few steps into the den to see if I am in my chair. Then slowly to the bedroom where usually I am hiding waiting for him to find me. He enters cautiously but with the biggest grin on his face while he searches until I jump out and grab him. Then my favorite part, he takes my hand and says, “Come on Paw” then we are off on our adventure. But anytime he realizes I’m not in the room the seeking starts all over again. The same response, he grabs my hand and with a simple request or demand “Come on Paw” we are off again. Like every grandfather at this point he gets anything he wants.
Every time he comes to my house I have the opportunity to watch Matthew 6:33 playout before my eyes. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33 NKJV Seek not only means to attempt to find something but in Hebrew and Greek it has the same meaning, to Request or Demand. Demand simply means to insister and request made as if by a right. Like my grandson, he can request as if a demand to spend time with me playing. God longs to spend time with you and give you the desires of your heart.
ACTION: With your book of Promises, your Holy Bible, and rights as God’s children if we would simply seek to spend time in His presence, He will take hold of your hand. Today spend time seeking God and wanting to spend time with Him.
PRAYER: Father you are a good father and you long to spend time with us. I am so thankful that I have a Father, Daddy God that loves me and that longs to spend time with me. Today I seek you father, I want to be in your presence, I request to spend time with you and for me to know you better. For you to lead me and guide in your will for my life. To be closer to you and to keep the child like longing in my heart to seek you and spend time with you every day. Thank you Father for your love, thank you for your promise that if I seek first the kingdom all the things you have for me, you will be faithful to show me. I pray all these things in the Name of Jesus our Savior.
For the next 21 days, we will post here, and (the link) on our Facebook page, daily devotionals and words of encouragement (some written by our Cornerstone family). We pray that they will give you insight and wisdom and minister to you in a way that moves you closer to our Heavenly Father.
